RGR’s Diagnostic Decoding Surveys are an easy and efficient way to quickly detect when students are having word-level reading difficulties and pinpoint specific decoding weaknesses.

This session is designed to—

• Help you identify students who would benefit from decoding instruction
• Teach you how to administer and score the Diagnostic Decoding Surveys
• Use survey results to pinpoint students' specific difficulties
• Learn to group students for instruction (using the Grouping Matrix)
• Monitor student progress and report on student response to instruction

Many students experience undiagnosed decoding (or word-level) difficulties that hamper their academic achievement. Designed with adolescents in mind, Really Great Reading’s Phonics Suite provides a comprehensive set of tools to help literacy professionals identify, group, and teach students with decoding difficulties.

Phonics Suite lessons improve reading skills for students in grades 2-12. The two sets of lessons teach students to read more accurately and improve comprehension. Phonemic awareness, phonics, word attack, and fluency are at the heart of the multisensory, systematic, and explicit lessons.

RGR has recently added a new assessment of decoding skills – The ADS Plus. This survey is used to refine our understanding of students who exhibit weakness on certain sections of the Advanced Decoding Survey.
